We had spent 10 days busily doing the sights of the Bay of Naples, Sorrento and Amalfi Coast, and was looking for a hotel just to relax for 3 days close to Salerno before travelling onto Rome by train.
Therefore I choose the hotel because of its location firstly, but I wanted a hotel providing a swimming pool and good service. The bonus of Olimpico was only being 50m away from the sandy beach and the views of the Amalfi coast.
Most highly rated are the friendly courteous staff, from the cleaners, the reception staff, who were informative and also helped us find the train times to Rome, and attentive restaurant staff. Inside and out the hotel was spotlessly clean. We always felt really comfortable and relaxed during our time at the hotel which is a credit to you.
The American breakfast was extensive and the evening meals were most enjoyable.
We had a tastefully modern furnished room on the first floor, overlooking the back, which provided panoramic views to open fields and the distant mountains.
In isolation this a very highly recommended hotel. It is also located along the coastal road from Salerno to Paestum, on a bus route and close to the sea. However the surroundings are absolutely appalling. Most of the beachside restaurants/ cafes are empty and are derelict. Refuse has not been collected and the roadside from the hotel to Salerno, some 6 miles is covered with rubbish. Any and all walls have graffiti . Since returning, I have only now been advised that this area was exactly the same 2 years ago.
