Fattoria San Donato is nestled in the green hills surrounding San Gimignano in a picturesque medieval village on the old Via Francigena pilgrimage route.
The village has maintained many original features such as the old fortified mansion, ancient park, farmers' dwellings and the beautiful watch tower which has been converted in to a tavern.
The splendid swimming pool is situated in an area raised above the level of the surrounding houses and benefits from a spectacular view which stretches as far as the eye can see over the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The large garden below is lined with tall trees and has chairs, sun loungers and tables. Guests can lie back in the sun or discover the untouched nature of the Castelvecchio nature reserve either on foot, by mountain bike or on horseback.
Children can play freely in the park or by the pool with rubber rings and boards, visit the Etruscan archaeological site, get to know the farm's animals, learn how to make wine and oil or go for a horseride at the nearby stables.
Cots, high chairs and bottle warmers are available on request.

Fattoria San Donato also offers a welcoming TV lounge, a library with many books on Tuscany, a convenient Internet access point, meeting room, mountain bike hire, 18 hole golf course (15km away), health spa (5km away) and thermal baths (10km away).
The Fenzi family, owners of the farm since 1932, are happy to cater to all requests and provide advice and information on the best things to do in the area.

Pets are welcome and can play freely in the large green areas that surround the farm.
Guests are kindly requested to ensure their animals are vaccinated before arrival.

Description of Bar/Restaurant Facilities

In the tavern – which was once the town's guard tower or maybe a water cistern, breakfast and lunch are served.
The dining toom has a selection of board games and a large collection of books on Tuscany and its renowned wines.

Guests can participate in wine and grappa tastings, or simply sip on a coffee.

Outside, there are tables and chairs in the shade where guests can eat, read or enjoy barbeques under the wrought iron gazebo.

By car

From Rome:
From the A1 Autostrada del Sole motorway, take the exit for Valdichiana. Continue along the SS71 until you approach Siena, then follow signs for “Tangenziale” and Florence. Take the exit for Poggibonsi Nord, follow directions for “San Gimignano”, at the roundabout before San Gimignano, follow directions for “San Donato – Volterra” and after 4.5km, turn left at the junction for San Donato.

From Bologna/Florence:
From the A1 “Autostrada del Sole” motorway, take the exit for “Firenze Certosa”. Continue along the Florence – Siena highway and take the exit for Poggibonsi Nord. Follow signs for San Gimignano, at the roundabout before you reach San Gimignano, follow signs for San Donato – Volterra and after 4.5km, turn left ad the fork in the road for San Donato.
