General Description of the Hotel

The Grand Hotel Savoia is found in the heart of Cortina d'Ampezzo and is a historic hotel for tourism in the Dolomites. Built in the early 20th century, it will open to the public again on December 18, 2009 after having undergone an important renovation project aimed at providing clients with high quality facilities and services.
This hotel has always been visited by refined clientele and still has its historic register with the signatures of illustrious guests, such as Sofia Loren, Charlton Heston, Winston Churchill, Umberto di Savoia, Mafalda d’Assia Principessa di Savoia, Italo Balbo and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The luxurious facilities include 117 Comfort, Superior and Deluxe rooms, 5 Junior Suites, 8 Suites, Savoy restaurant, Il Giardino d’Inverno bar, the cigar bar, piano bar, a private parking garage for up to 160 vehicles, a wellness centre measuring 750 square metres with a swimming pool, a massage swimming pool, a sauna, a Turkish bath, relaxation areas, treatment rooms, a business centre with several meeting rooms and free high-speed cable and WiFi internet access.

On June 27, 2009, the Dolomites were declared a world heritage site and are considered to be one of the 189 most beautiful places in the world.

The Grand Hotel Savoia has 117 Comfort, Superior and Deluxe rooms, 5 Junior Suites and 8 Suites, all of which are equipped with WiFi internet access, an LCD television, a safety deposit box, a minibar, soft towels and an en suite bathroom with a bathtub or shower.

Some of the guest rooms also include a balcony. The seventh floor has guest rooms with King Size beds.

Description of Bar/Restaurant Facilities

Savoy restaurant has a long-standing tradition of providing delicious cuisine and warm hospitality.
In Savoy the cuisine, wine, service and atmosphere always delight guests and are always able to satisfy even the most refined palate.

The Giardino d'Inverno bar is the ideal place to sip an afternoon tea or to enjoy a delicious aperitif in a welcoming environment.

The hotel also has a smoking area where guests can enjoy a fine cigar from the cigar bar.

Description of Conference and Meeting Facilities

The business centre has a number of conference rooms, areas for business meetings and a spacious entrance foyer with a coat check.

The plenary room can comfortably accommodate up to 270 people with an auditorium layout and is the ideal place for large-scale meetings or special events, banquets, cocktails, aperitifs and business lunches (up to 300 people).
This room has natural lighting, a director’s booth, a video projector and a wall with a mobile screen.

Completely soundproof, this room is available with the following layouts:
- auditorium layout: 250 people;
- horseshoe layout: 70 people;
- presidential table: 40 people;
- round tables: 220 people;
- buffet with tables: 130 people.

The ground floor has an area measuring 70 square metres suitable for video projectors for training exercises and meetings of up to 70 people with an auditorium layout.
The room can be set up with a round table, tables with chairs or a horseshoe layout.

Direction and Transportation

By car

Cortina D'Ampezzo is connected to the SS51 state road of Alemagna running north-south and to the SS48bis state road of the Dolomites running east-west.
The motorway exits are the A27-Belluno exit to the south (72km away) and the A22-Bressanone exit to the north (87km away).

From the south:
Take the A27 motorway to the Belluno exit. Head along the SS51 Alemagna state road going through Longarone, Tai, Valle di Cadore and San Vito di Cadore.
Upon reaching Cortina, head straight towards Centro. The hotel is located just before the pedestrian area on the right.

From the north:
Take the A22 Autostrada del Brennero motorway to the north to the Bressanone exit. Take the state road towards Dobbiaco. From Bressanone, Cortina can be reached in about an hour (87km away).
Coming from Dobbiaco, follow the directions for Venezia. Turn left at the traffic circle onto Via Roma (one-way) and continue straight towards Centro. The hotel is located just before the pedestrian area on the right.

By train

The closest railway station is the Calalzo di Cadore station (35km away) on the Venezia Santa Lucia – Calalzo railway line. From here there is a bus to Cortina scheduled to connect with the trains.

By plane

The local airport is Venice Marco Polo International Airport around 160km away.
Other airports nearby include Treviso Airport (118km away), Verona Airport (242km away) and Innsbruk Airport (156km away).
