The information oh the hotel website did not enable us to clearly locate the hotel or access it. We were looking for a hotel in Siena, not some 20 miles out of the town. It did not say that Piazza Italia was walking distance from the hotel and suggested we might take a taxi which we did at a cost of 28 euros. On leaving the hotel at the end of our stay we walked to the foot of the road and got a bus to the station for 2.85 euros. As it turned out, we were glad not to stay in Siena town, although that would have been a good centre for trips to say, Assissi, Lucca, and possibly Elba. We did not manage to visit any of those places from Chianciano Terme, but we did appreciate the location in the Tuscan countryside. We left Hotel Iris a day earlier than planned - to spend the final night in Pisa for the check-in for our homeward flight from Pisa airport at 9.20 am - not feasible from Chianciano Terme.

The hotel has no view of any lake anywhere in sight at all. Despite that the hotel serivce is actually quite OK and the price reasonable although a little far and in the middle of nowhere. Staff are friendly.
