By car
From the A1 motorway, take the exit for Valdichiana. Immediately after the toll booth, join the E45 Siena - Perugia highway and take the exit for Cortona - San Lorenzo. Continue towards Cortona, then join the SS71 state road and once you reach Camucia, take the turning for Cortona. Go uphill towards the town and then go through the Via Guelfa entrance gate - normally closed to traffic but open for those going to Hotel San Michele.
By train
- Terontola - Cortona train station (194 km from Rome and 122 km from Florence) or Camucia - Cortona train station.
Buses and taxis to Cortona are available from both stations.
