Recensioni B&B Villa Ocsia - San Giorgio A Cremano

Pessimo hotel, molto caro!!!!

Villa Ocsia is an oasis in the rough Naples surroundings and provided a pleasant safe haven during our stay at a reasonable price. It was not that easy to find and directions need to be much more specific. The fifth stop on the Circumvesuviana line around Mount Vesuvius is called San Georgio Cremano, not to be confused with any other including the sixth which also has San Georgio in the name. The location and street path can also be provided to guide the new visitor.

For a B&B it was good and very spacious and something to consider rather than a hotel room in a tourist area (welcome after postage stamp size 4 star hotel rooms). The room was cold on the first evening but when we informed staff we were provided with an extra blanket which proved to be adequate. The hot water supply in the batthroom could have been warmer and the wireless internet could not work in our room a few metres away from the transmitting unit.

In our tour we stayed in a variety of accommodations including a B&B in Avignon in France - in just as charming a villa but there the common areas were cramped and this was much better.

It is not for everyone but we wanted a clean safe place to sleep, to be some distance from the tourist crowd and get to mix with the real local people - an experience like watching Napoli beat Bologna in a soccer match while dining at a suburban restaurant was great.

We travelled easily and cheaply by train into Naples (15 minutes), up to Pompei (20 minutes) and also to Sorrento, which is a world apart on the coast about 30 minutes away. From there there is easy bus access to Positano, Praiano and Amalfi. Besides the breakfast provided we ate in Sorrento, Almalfi and locally at San Geogio Cremano where the food was similar but a fraction of the price in Sorrento or Amalfi although the view may be worth the difference.

When leaving the B&B organised our transport to the airport in their vehicle and we left the camera in the car. Thanks to the driver who returned to the airport we were abe to retrieve it and are extremely grateful for that.
